Maureen K. Calamia is founder of Luminous Spaces, a Green Feng Shui consulting firm in Saint James, Long Island. With a BBA from Hofstra University, Maureen worked for over twenty years in marketing with clients such as KitchenAid, Sprint PCS, Forbes, ESPN Mobile, and Save the Children.

During the last two decades, Maureen witnessed many management turnovers and layoffs, many stressful and life-sapping work environments, and lived through it all by learning to adjust and adapt to the energy of her colleagues and workspaces, while maintaining her own balance.

In the search for a more inspiring career that would further her passion in energy work and build on her skills, Maureen turned to Feng Shui. By studying the effects of energy flow, balance of opposites (yin/yang), the five Chinese elements, orientation, colors, shapes and proportions, Maureen is able to create life-enhancing environments for her clients.

Integrating her previous business experience, Maureen is able to help her clients improve employee satisfaction, productivity and efficiency as well as add to the overall general sense of well-being.

Maureen is co-developing and teaching a new Universal Feng Shui Practitioner Training Program at the Metropolitan Institute of Design. The first Feng Shui Certificate Program to be licensed by NY State, this 10-month program includes top experts in the field of Feng Shui and related disciplines.

Some of her recent projects include:

* A traditional healthcare office in Connecticut hired Maureen to help with renovation plans and to partner with the project designer and builder. Her recommendations greatly improved the energy flow of the much-beleagured floorplan and incorporation of the 5 natural elements increased the calming atmosphere that the client set out for. Still in development!

* A NYC advertising agency hired an architecture design firm when renovating their new office space consisting of 32,000 sq ft. Maureen provided Feng Shui recommendations to improve the energy flow, the balance of colors to adjust a "too yang" environment and incorporate a mix of textures into the space.

* A Long Island spa and salon wanted to renovate their salon and "go green." Maureen provided floorplan recommendations, sourced eco-friendly renovation materials, and helped them re-brand and market their new salon.

* A NYC online wine retailer hired Maureen to improve the energy flow in a long, narrow office space. The recommendation included the use of objects and mirrors, colors, and incorporated the five Chinese elements.

Maureen is certified in BTB Feng Shui (CFSP) and as a Building Biology Practitioner (BBP). She is currently studying Classical Feng Shui and  continues to study with teachers of various discplines, including Grandmaster Professor Thomas Lin Yun, Karen Kingston, Alex Stark, Katherine Metz, R.D. Chin, and the Clairvision School.
