2016 Year of the Fire Monkey

Fire Monkey2016 is the Year of the Fire Monkey according to Chinese Astrology. Sounds like fun, right?! Buckle up, it will be a wild ride!

The Chinese New Year has two official starts – first, the Solar New Year, which is always on February 4th. However, the Lunar New Year is the most celebrated of holidays in Chinese culture and marks the beginning of Spring. The Lunar New Year is typically the second New Moon following the Winter Solstice, so the date can be as early as mid-January and as late as mid-February. In 2016, the Lunar New Year is February 8th.

For the last few months of the year, the energy transitions from the current animal to the new one – so you may have been feeling the effects already, moving from the Wood Goat to the Fire Monkey.

The Wood Goat was focused on community and family. The Fire Monkey is characterized by Yang Fire controlling Metal. Monkey is about communication, humor, and entertainment, which is all fun, but this year will also be about finances (Metal) which will be very tricky. Only the quick-witted will outsmart the Monkey this year. There could be an undercurrent of trickery.

The energy of this year will be very changeable, which can be exciting to some, but very ungrounding to others. Situations change — and change fast!

The Monkey is intelligent and clever and capable of using its wits to get out of challenging situations. They tend to be oblivious of their actions on others, however, they are still able to be popular and motivate others with their enthusiasm. The Fire Monkey is very yang, full of action and energy.
